DescriptionBachmann Narrow Gauge OO9 392-026 Baguley-Drewry 70hp Diesel Green
Baguley-Drewry 70HP Diesel Locomotive
These 'modern' diesel locomotives were built by Baguley-Drewry in the early 1980s for use on the network of narrow gauge lines operated by the RNAD (Royal Naval Armaments Department), augmenting their existing fleet of elderly locomotives. They worked trains carrying explosives and other sundries between the standard gauge exchange sheds and the various hidden storage locations. As the MoD (Ministry of Defence) began to consolidate operations, various depots were closed and the redundant locomotives and rolling stock was either moved to other locations or sold off. This staggered programme of disposals has allowed a good number of these locomotives to enter preservation and many now operate far outside their original remit. Preservation has also allowed several new liveries and names to be carried by the surviving locomotives.
The Bachmann narrow gauge model will feature a 6 pin DCC decoder socket and NEM couplings.
