DCC Fitted and DCC Ready

DCC Ready locomotives do not have a DCC Chip fitted for the new digital controllers (Select and Elite units). However they do have a socket so that fitting a decoder is a simple operation of removing the locomotive's body and plugging the decoder into the socket. All of these locomotives will run on an older DC operated layout.

DCC Fitted locomotives are factory fitted with the new decoders for the digital controllers. They are not recommended by Hornby for use on a traditional DC layout as occasionally they may not provide the best customer experience.

Locomotives that do not carry any DCC logo are, unless specifically stated on the description, suitable for both DC and Digital operation. To use these locomotives with a Digital controller they will need a Decoder fitting, to do this some soldering and cutting of wires will be required by the user.
