Peco SL-104F Steel sleeper type nickel silver rail

Steel sleepers are becoming very popular on the railways today, so often found on secondary or light density routes. The Settle and Carlisle railway has many sections of steel sleepered track and a substantial number of the lines around the UIK are having these installed when track replacement is required.

The steel sleepers themselves have a very different and distinctive shape, being formed from pressed steel, which is superbly captured along with the detailed Pandrol rail fixings. By its very nature steel soon takes on a rusty appearance, so the track base is moulded in a rust brown colour.

Mixed with a combination of wooden and concrete sleepered turnouts and track, the modeller will be able to create an authentic scene from the contemporary railway today, ideal for all the modern locomotives and rolling stock now available.
