| The Golden Arrow was a service which operated from 1929 between London and Dover where passengers boarded a ferry to Calais and from there joined the Fleche d’Or for the onward journey to Paris.
Introduced in 1926 in France the London to Dover service was made up of 10 Pullman Cars. During the Second World War the service was cancelled but was reinstated in 1946, however in September 1972 due to a decline in demand the Golden Arrow ceased.
The Britannia Class locomotive, William Shakespeare carrying the distinctive Golden Arrows on its smoke deflectors was one of the main locomotives chosen by British Railways to haul the Golden Arrow train and therefore it is most suitable for this model to be produced in the livery of the period to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the end of the Golden Arrow train.
This Limited Edition model of 1500 has included with each locomotive a numbered certificate. |
| Digital DCC Ready - locomotive has a 8 Pin Decoder Socket to accept locomotive decoder (not included). Locomotive is suitable for traditional DC operation.
