| The once common Locomotive Coaling Tower is an exciting addition to the Scenecraft range. This fully detailed model is closely based on the well known facility at Carnforth Engine shed. The actual tower is still standing and can be seen for many miles around, making this model suitable for the current railway scene as well as the steam era. The fine detail that has been reproduced on this model makes an amazing centre piece for many model layouts of the present and future.
As pictured, the tower serves two tracks, and allows up to four steam engines to be coaled at once. The model is supplied complete with prototypical control cabins, which actually used a primitive form of computerisation to distribute coal in the required amount to engines being serviced.
A non working coal wagon lifting cradle is also included with the model. A light texture is used to simulate the concrete construction of the original, with painting and weathering applied by hand. Catwalks, handrails and ladders are also included. |
